That moment when everything gets out of hand, when you just want to run away or dive into a lava lake. When your ears get hot, your head turns red and you don’t know what to do with your hands. Welcome to the universe of fucking p*b*rty. Would be really nice if someone would help. If the hairy leg could make a clear announcement, as the arms casually disappear into the pockets of your pants. But no, eh everything too big, too small, too thick, too thin or strangely discolored. Yes, go ahead and just stare!
PINSKER+BERNHARDT invite all those 12 years and older to explore the fucking p*b*rty as the ultimate brain-body killer of all human conditions. For this purpose, the theater becomes a laboratory where growing pimples and pubic hair take command while the staff tries to get to the bottom of this absurd spectacle.
PINSKER+BERNHARDT studied choreography and performance as well as applied theater studies. They were participants in the international research residency next generation workspace. In 2018, they spent seven months in a mediation residency at the Mousonturm researching on the topic of "The Pleasure of Not Understanding." In the 2019/2020 season, they were artists in residence at the Hessisches Landestheater Marburg.
Follow-up conversations
After all performances, there will be several follow-up conversations lasting a maximum of 90 minutes. The talks will be divided up on the spot. When pubic hair starts to sprout in unpleasant places, pimples painfully press outwards from under the skin, the armpits smell acrid, when pus shoots out of pores, and the erectile tissue swells at inappropriate moments, when cheerfulness turns to sadness, yes, then you’ve hit puberty. Everything is unpleasant, embarrassing and to be seen in "Body Boom Boom Brain" by PINSKER+BERNHARDT.
Here the main actor is the stage space. With the expectation of attending a modern dance solo, the teenage audience is greeted in the foyer. But it soon turns out that something is wrong. People thought to be theater staff nervously scurry through the foyer. Then the announcement: The performance is delayed because something indefinable is growing out of the stage ceiling into the auditorium. They tape off, cordon off the space and take all sorts of measures to somehow save the dance solo, but then again there is something strange growing out of the floor, the wall or the ceiling. After the tube pushing its way out of the ceiling has been identified pubic hair, the room begins to take on a life of its own. A colorful tarpaulin, which pushes its way through the dance floor helped by the performers and then wanders across the stage, turns into a painful pimple in front of the inner eye. Things become more abstract when a remote-controlled small vehicle with a heart shaped balloon drives onto the stage. From its loudspeaker booms "Sexual Healing" and harasses the audience in the front row. Like those who have been pushed through puberty, the performers struggle with each new change. The deodorant sprays under the audience seats don't help either.
The director’s idea of transforming the stage space into the state of puberty is incredibly clever and a lot of fun.

Content Note
In Body Boom Boom Brain, fog and darkness are used in places, along with the use of stroboscopes. This allows sensory stimuli to be stimulated by the smell and by rapidly pulsating strobe lights. In addition, there are interactive elements in Body Boom Boom Brain where the audience is involved.
